So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary

    Looking for ways to help?

SO CAL MINI HORSE SANCTUARY VET & MEDICAL CARE CENTER

    WE ARE SO CLOSE

When we first began planning a dedicated veterinary and medical care  space for So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary, I truly believed it might be one  of the most difficult—and expensive—projects we would ever undertake.

Instead of constructing an entirely new veterinary facility, we looked  carefully at what we already had and asked ourselves:

How can we make this work responsibly, efficiently and without wasting a  single donated dollar?

The answer came by bringing together two existing buildings.  Our 15’ x 8’ building will serve as the primary medical supply and  veterinary preparation room, positioned directly behind the protected  area where examinations, treatments and procedures can take place.

Our second 24’ x 8’ building gives us additional medical inventory and  storage space while also providing an interior area for procedures when  needed.  Together, these two buildings gave us exactly what we needed—and saved  the Sanctuary a small fortune.

Rather than spending tens of thousands of additional dollars  constructing a new facility from the ground up, we have been able to  invest in adapting and improving structures we already owned.  And we are now so incredibly close to being finished.

The major infrastructure is well underway or completed, including  electrical and water. What remains is primarily the interior finishing  and the final covered veterinary work area that will allow our  veterinary team to safely examine and treat animals in a protected  space.

We realistically believe that less than $20,000 will complete the entire  project, including labor and materials.

Those remaining funds will help provide cabinetry, countertops and work  surfaces, medical refrigeration, flooring, interior and task lighting,  specialized storage and organization, plumbing and electrical finishing,  fixtures and hardware, the covered veterinary work area, and the  miscellaneous finishing materials that inevitably come with completing a  project of this size.

    WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS

Having a dedicated veterinary and medical care center will change the  way we are able to care for the animals who call So Cal Mini Horse  Sanctuary home.

Medications and medical supplies will have a clean, organized and  dedicated home. Veterinary inventory can be properly stored and  monitored. Our veterinary professionals will have appropriate work areas  for examinations, treatments and procedures, and we will be better  prepared when an emergency occurs.

But there is another part of this project that means just as much to me.

    YOUR TRUST.

Every dollar donated to So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary was hard-earned by  someone.  We know that.  And we never forget it.  When you choose to give part of what you have earned to help animals you  may never even meet, you are placing an extraordinary amount of trust  in us. You are trusting us to spend carefully, make good decisions and  use your donation where it can accomplish the most.

That is an honor we take very seriously. This project is a beautiful example of what responsible stewardship can  look like.

Instead of building bigger, we used what we had.

Instead of starting over, we repurposed.

Instead of spending unnecessarily, we found a way to make two existing  buildings work together to give our animals and veterinary team what  they need.  Your donations have become electricity, water lines, medical space,  storage and infrastructure. Soon they will become cabinetry,  refrigeration, countertops, flooring, lighting and a protected  veterinary treatment area.

They have become something real. Something lasting. Something that will  care for rescued animals for years to come.  When we started, I wondered how we would ever finish this project.

Today, we are less than $20,000 away.  And that happened because there are some truly wonderful humans in this  world.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, contributed materials, offered  expertise, worked on this project or simply believed in what we are  trying to accomplish:

    Thank you.

Thank you for believing in these animals.  Thank you for believing in our Sanctuary.  And thank you for trusting us with your hard-earned money.  We thought this would be one of our hardest projects.

Instead, you helped make it possible.  No one carries a mission like this alone. ❤️
